Earlier this month, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said:

Are they [the Iranians] trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No. But we know that they’re trying to develop a nuclear capability. And that’s what concerns us.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper confirmed in a Senate hearing – following the release of the classified National Intelligence Estimate in 2011 – that he has a “high level of confidence” that Iran “has not made a decision as of this point to restart its nuclear weapons program.”

Mohamed ElBaradei – who spent more than a decade as the director of the IAEA – said that he had not “seen a shred of evidence” that Iran was pursuing the bomb.

Six former ambassadors to Iran within the last decade say that there is no evidence that Iran is building nuclear weapons, and that Iran is complying with international law.

The International Atomic Energy Agency states:

All nuclear material in the facility remains under the Agency’s containment and surveillance.

In other words, all nuclear fuel is accounted for and is being controlled and monitored by the international agency tasked with nuclear non-proliferation.

What about Iran’s enriching uranium to 20%? The IAEA considers 20 percent enriched uranium to be low-enriched uranium and “a fully adequate isotopic barrier” to weaponization. In other words, 20% is well within the legal guidelines for developing a program of nuclear energy.

Britain’s foreign secretary William Hague is taking a long time to answer the sort of questions he must have mulled over before starting this country along another warmongering road to hell.

Explanation, please

So I’ve sent my MP, a Foreign Office minister as it happens, yet another signal…

I wrote to you a month ago asking for an explanation from Mr Hague for his hostility towards Iran and requesting concrete proof of Iran’s military application of nuclear technology. I have not received a reply.

Mr Hague was also asked, since he is so bent on ratcheting up sanctions clearly intended to cripple the Iranian economy, whether Her Majesty’s Government had so easily forgotten the misery and deprivation inflicted on civil society, especially children, during the 12 years of sanctions against Iraq before that country was reduced to rubble on false pretenses?

I was also curious to know why he’s not more concerned about Israel’s nuclear arsenal, the threat it poses to the region and beyond, and the mental attitude of the Israeli regime. Why hasn’t he sought sanctions against Israel for its refusal to sign up to the Nucllear Non-Proliferation Treaty or engage constructively on the issue of its nuclear and other WMD programmes?

And aren’t sanctions long overdue for Israel’s repeated defiance of international and humanitarian laws in the Holy Land?

What threat is Iran to Britain? How many times has a British foreign secretary visited Tehran in the 32 years since the Islamic Revolution? Did Mr Hague make amends for this dereliction of diplomatic duty before embarking on his campaign for “an intensification of the economic pressure”, which many see as fateful step towards the war with Iran that Washington’s neo-cons have been cooking up for some time?

Has Iran wronged Britain? Actually it’s the other way round. The British Government has been a menace to Iran ever since it took a major shareholding in Anglo-Persian Oil in 1914 and swindled the host country out of its fair share of the profits. Worst of all was Britain’s abominable conduct towards the Iranians in 1951-53, when a previous Tory government sabotaged their democracy and created the circumstances that eventually caused the Islamic Revolution of 1979. The present-day Tory Government, instead of straining every sinew to pave the way for trade and co-operation in order to influence the Iranian leadership, is spoiling for another fight.

Please tell us: is Her Majesty’s Government going to send our young men (and women) to die in Iran for Israel?

In 2001 Jack Straw was the first British foreign secretary to visit Tehran in the 22 years since the Revolution. The Israelis made a big fuss, complaining that his trip was “sticking a knife in Israel’s back”. Am I right in thinking there has been no top level face-to-face contact since 2003 and that the Foreign Office has been more concerned about what Zionist extremists might say than winning the prize of good relations with Iran?

This latest escalation of hostility cannot possibly be in the British interest. Mr Hague’s job as foreign secretary is to make friends for Britain not enemies.

Sabre-rattling is “beyond stupid” says Simon Jenkins

You may have seen the excellent piece by Simon Jenkins in The Guardian on 3 January http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/jan/03/britain-ramoing-sanctions-against-iran-washington, also asking why Britain is ramping up sanctions against Iran.

“The EU must this month decide whether to collude with the US in this dangerous game and ban Iran’s oil exports,” he says. “This sabre-rattling – in the midst of a recession – is beyond stupid. No one has seriously doubted that Iran’s government, surrounded by nuclear-armed or nuclear-allied powers, would one day seek a similar capability.”

The Government claims tougher sanctions will “hasten Iran’s economic collapse and deepen rifts within the regime, in the hope that saner voices will deem the price of pursuing nuclear weapons too high”. But sanctions do not initiate such a process, says Jenkins. “They just build walls… The idea that any nation becomes more malleable when threatened from outside is absurd. Economic sanctions are coward’s diplomacy…. merely a low-risk way of bullying the world…

“As for rattling a sabre whenever Washington says so, that is the most humiliating idiocy.”

Who disagrees?

Declassified documents show how Washington’s Dirty Tricks department, way back in the 1960s, was dreaming up evil schemes to provoke military intervention in Cuba. They created false pretexts such as staged catastrophes and false-flag incidents that would inflame public opinion and be blamed on the enemy. The US was prepared to go to extraordinary lengths and great expense to bamboozle the world into believing that Cuba was committing hostile acts against the US, thus providing “justification” for US military action.

Nothing changes. How often have we seen this same contemptible game played out by the US and Israel – and regrettably Britain – to start unjust wars?

Messrs Hague and Cameron both voted enthusiastically for the Iraq war, a decision of staggering irresponsibility based on neo-con lies. The cost – in lives, ruination and destruction – has been horrendous. The loss of respect for Britain is probably permanent. What possessed them to support taking us to war on trumped-up intelligence and inflicting shock and awe on good people?

I hope you and your colleagues realise that the British public won’t have their intelligence insulted a second time.

In the meantime, former ambassador Craig Murray has continued his research into the shady activities of Adam Werritty and Britain’s Jewish ambassador to Israel, Matthew Gould. Werrity is the special friend and self-styled “adviser” to disgraced defence secretary Liam Fox, while Gould before his posting to Tel Aviv was principal private secretary to the previous (Labour) foreign secretary David Miliband and deputy head of mission at the embassy in Iran. He also spent two years as foreign and security policy counsellor in Washington and was brought back to serve as private secretary for foreign affairs to the then prime minister, Tony Blair

Gould was plucked almost straight from university and a sheltered life. The Jerusalem Post on 29 May last year reported he had “declared his commitment to Israel and the principles of Zionism”. What are we to make, then, of Britain’s representative to the delinquent, racist regime in the powder-keg of the Middle East?

Would Her Majesty’s Government consider appointing a fanatical Islamist as ambassador to Iran?

“It is simply impossible that Matthew Gould, a senior British diplomat, attended all of these meetings and events, yet no formal minute or note of any of them exists.”

Murray says the media blackout on what Werritty was really up to is because “there is a silent cross-party agreement among the political establishment to ally the UK strongly with the interests of Israel… Werritty’s activities were therefore countenanced by both New Labour and Conservative leaderships.

“My sources within the civil service remain adamant that the purpose of all this activity was diplomatic preparation for an attack on Iran…I have proven that the Gould/Werritty connection was indeed far more extensive than the Establishment were prepared to admit, and directly implicated Miliband and Hague with Werritty. It was deliberately underplayed by Gus O’Donnell’s report, in a blatant act of political lying by the then Cabinet Secretary.”

Murray says he’s been tipped off that Werritty met with Robert Gates, recently retired US Defence Secretary, on two occasions, and he’d be grateful to any US-based readers who can track that down.

The opposition has a two-prong strategy. One part of it is the Syrian National Council, “the brave diplomatic face of the opposition,” which meets in Istanbul and Paris and talks to the international mass media. And then there is the Free Syrian Army, which is doing the actual fighting in the country, says Escobar.

“These are mercenaries and defectors armed by outside powers. These outside powers are basically from Qatar and the Emirates,” he adds. “They come and go. They are rag-tag bands, basically. They cannot fight the Syrian army, they cannot fight tanks.”

These bands will have to be investigated along with the tanks and the crackdown, insists the journalist, but the 50 observers the Arab League has sent in are not enough to investigate the activities even in the city of Homs, not to mention in the whole country.

The Private Global Power Elite embedded in major governments is dead set on imposing World Government on us sooner rather than later. Let’s look at 12 mega-processes – veritable “Triggers” – that we infer they are using to achieve their goals.

All roads lead to World Government. This should come as no surprise. London’s Financial Times openly articulated this view in an article by their chief foreign affairs commentator, Gideon Rachman, published on 8 December 2009, whose title said it all: “And Now for a World Government.” These goals are echoed by the Trilateral Commission, CFR and Bilderberg insiders – even by the Vatican.

Macro-managing planet Earth is no easy matter. 3) Social Upheavals. Meltdowns in Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Iceland and – soon to come – Italy, Spain and others, trigger violent social uprisings, even in the US and UK;

There is no doubt that we have entered a time of great change. Everyone can feel it whether they can comprehend it or not. The evidence is everywhere; in politics, the economy, science and technology, in earth changes and in consciousness.

Change in this great arena called life is happening so fast now that it can seem overwhelming. It can feel as if time itself is quickening. It can feel as if we have no control over the outcome of this transition. When, in fact, the opposite is true. Only we can determine the future, but we must actively participate in the change, otherwise the future will be determined for us if we choose not to look in the mirror.

Life is like a mirror. When we smile, it smiles back at us. When we scowl, it scowls back at us. To effectively change the world, "You don't comb the mirror, you comb your own hair and the mirror changes," as David Icke so wisely puts it.

We must embrace the present, even what appears to be bad, because each convulsion is necessary to ultimately regain health. The collapse of the predatory economic system and tyrannical control systems will be a glorious and painful event wrapped up in one. But it will eventually lead to love, freedom, and peace for all.

How do I know this? Is some cosmic time traveler feeding me this prophecy? No, I simply part my hair in those directions in the mirror and have faith that the vast majority of conscious humans also project the same desire of well-being. Those who scowl at freedom and peace and part their hair towards hate, no matter how large and fancy their mirror, will soon experience the personal reflection of their colic.

Now, those who manipulate the hate and division, and control the wars and economic slavery will likely break the mirror during this transition, causing what may appear to be seven years of bad luck for the rest of us. But those who previously enjoyed the largest and most powerful reflection devices will be limited to the scattered jagged pieces left by their tantrum, while the rest of us keep smiling.

For sure, we face very real challenges ahead that will make it difficult for each of us. Many people's way of life is dependent on the current hideous reflection. Unfortunately, these folks will likely be cut the deepest when the mirror shatters.

In order for the rest of humanity to survive and navigate the mess, they must first recognize their own distorted appearance and give themselves a makeover before the collapse arrives. Thankfully, many are offering them combs and brushes, but they must also be willing to groom themselves.

No amount of force will bring about the necessary reflection, because the ideas of force and fear will have been shattered in the old mirror. We must gather the tools to shield ourselves from the approaching shards, and cultivate the skills to put the pieces back together in a way that reflects the more attractive values of peace and freedom.

We must rebuild with a foundation of love, especially for those who couldn't see before -- and even for those who broke the mirror -- or we will create small splinters in the new mirror that will eventually result in the same hateful reflection.

The only remaining options left are airstrikes and invasion.

The report extensively details using Israel as a US-proxy in attacking Iran in an attempt to cripple its nuclear program as well as destroy much of its security apparatus while maintaining "plausible deniability" for the attack's US architects. It is also hoped that the airstrikes incur a sufficient Iranian retaliation (or at least the opportunity to stage a false flag operation in Iran's name) to allow Israel and the United States to carry out a more extensive follow-up military operation against the Islamic Republic.

The primary hurdle described throughout the report's examination of using a "unilateral" Israeli strike, however, was a US-occupied Iraq and the complications an Israeli airstrike would cause passing through the nation's airspace on its way to bombing Iran.

However with the US' recent rushed "exit" from Iraq, this complication is no longer an issue.

An Israeli air campaign against Iran would have a number of very important differences from an American campaign. First, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) has the problem of overflight transit from Israel to Iran. Israel has no aircraft carriers, so its planes must take off from Israeli air bases. It also does not possess long-range bombers like the B-1 or B-2, or huge fleets of refueling tankers, all of which means that unlike the United States, Israel cannot avoid flying through someone’s air space. The most direct route from Israel to Iran’s Natanz facility is roughly 1,750 kilometers across Jordan and Iraq. From the American perspective, this negates the whole point of the option—distancing the United States from culpability—and it could jeopardize American efforts in Iraq, thus making it a possible nonstarter for Washington. Finally, Israeli violation of Jordanian airspace would likely create political problems for King Abdullah of Jordan, one of America’s (and Israel’s) closest Arab friends in the region. Thus it is exceedingly unlikely that the United States would allow Israel to overfly Iraq, and because of the problems it would create for Washington and Amman, it is unlikely that Israel would try to fly over Jordan. An Israeli attack on Iran would directly affect key American strategic interests. If Israel were to overfly Iraq, both the Iranians and the vast majority of people around the world would see the strike as abetted, if not authorized, by the United States. Even if Israel were to use another route, many Iranians would still see the attack as American supported or even American orchestrated. After all, the aircraft in any strike would be American produced, supplied, and funded F-15s and F-16s, and much of the ordnance would be American made. The US withdrawal from Iraq is being done in tandem with NATO operations to destabilize Syria and in turn disrupt Hezbollah's capacity to retaliate against Israel in the event of a strike on Iran -- a concern also duly noted within the Brookings report.

It is quite clear that eliminating Syria entirely as an obstacle has been instead attempted, and with NATO standing by and a continuous influx of foreign fighters being armed and sent across the border to mire Syrian forces in asymmetrical warfare, any coordinated retaliation against Israel by Syria, Iran, and Hezbollah has been at the very least blunted significantly. The significance of Syria's ability to weather this US-backed destabilization and maintain a coherent deterrence against Anglo-American-Israeli forces in the region has been noted by Russia who has thus far blocked attempts to justify further, more overt intervention by NATO in Syria.

However, Syria will be taken down, as will Iran, at any cost just as was done with Libya, and only a tactical defeat of Wall Street and London's military forces in the process will prevent this from happening. Attempts to soften Russia's grip on Syria was recently made as US-funded NGOs began attempting to sow "Arab Spring-style" disarray in the streets of Moscow. While some consider it a sign of madness on behalf of Wall Street and London -- it is in reality part of a highly orchestrated global campaign, being executed in sequence, and thus far highly successful in achieving its goals. Throughout each stage, feigned weakness has been exhibited only to result in victory and it would be great folly to underestimate the endurance or will of the West at this juncture.

Already, one year into the US-engineered "Arab Spring," a US-funded "activist leader" has been made president of Tunisia, a British Petroleum (BP), Shell, and Total-funded Petroleum Institute representative made PM of Libya, and other Western puppets are now poised to seize power in Egypt. Wall Street and London have also recently announced via the US State Department that an official campaign of frustrating, encircling, and containing China's ambitions throughout Asia will be pursued under the title of "America's Pacific Century." Already Chinese projects in Myanmar have been canceled while Wall Street stooge Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand has been maneuvering politically to return to power at an already terrible cost to the Thai people.

Now more than ever, "we the people" must steel ourselves against this immense corporate-fascist empire as it sprawls death, destruction, and domination, militarily and economically, across the planet. We must (our very survival depends on it) boycott and replace entirely the corporate-financier interests that drive this dark, expansive agenda. It is now "do or die" -- unlike in the past, mankind now possesses the technology to render the vast majority of the population intellectually inferior through mass medication, food poisoning, GMO crops that rot our bodies and minds from the inside-out, and the martial means of eliminating vast swaths of the population permanently.

Not only is this a possibility, it is a reality that the global elite have conspired over at great length through texts like Ecoscience penned by current White House science adviser John Holdren and former White House science adviser Paul Ehrlich who openly talk about mass, involuntary medication to forcibly sterilize the population, reduce our numbers and confine us within what they literally call a "planetary regime."

Once again after yet another disingenuous campaign by the corporate media, the "Arab Spring" mobs filling Egypt's Tahrir Square have revealed their true agenda, calling for US corporate-funded International Crisis Group trustee Mohammed ElBaradei to be named by the military as the next "president" of Egypt. Increasing violence in Tahrir Square along with calls by the White House and the EU for a "a quick transfer of power to a civilian government in Egypt," is pressuring the Egyptian military to quickly find a suitable replacement to quell the mobs.

Wall Street and London, via their corporate-media have been building up ElBaradei for at least a year before the "Arab Spring" even began, portraying him as the great hope for Egypt. Foreign Affairs magazine, in March 2010, literally printed an article titled, "Is ElBaradei Egypt's Hero?" ...

As Washington’s political/media class rises up in arms over new WMD allegations against Iran, it might be worth recalling how a similar process played out nearly a decade ago when the U.S. public was drawn into a war with Iraq. It wasn’t just that George W. Bush told some lies; it was more complicated than that.

In 2002-2003, Official Washington professed a deep faith in the professionalism of the CIA’s analytical division, which accepted enough of the bogus intelligence being pushed by neocon war hawks to create a basis for Bush’s invasion of Iraq. Only later did it become clear how politicized the CIA’s analysis had become.

Today, a similar role is being played by the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency, which – during the run-up to war with Iraq and under different management – was one of the few international bodies with the courage to reject some of Bush’s claims about Iraq.

However, in the past two years, the IAEA has become deeply politicized under its new director general, Japanese diplomat Yukiya Amano. Yet, you wouldn’t know that from how the U.S. news media is accepting what the IAEA says about Iran, much as the U.S. press corps avoided questioning the CIA’s assessments on Iraq.

The evidence of the IAEA’s politicization can be found in confidential U.S. diplomatic cables obtained by WikiLeaks and published last year by the Guardian newspaper in the U.K. In those cables, the IAEA’s new leadership indicated it was willing to give Washington what it wanted on Iran, just as the CIA’s hierarchy bent to Bush’s needs on Iraq last decade.

According to the U.S. embassy cables from Vienna, Austria, the IAEA’s headquarters, Americans diplomats in 2009 were cheering the prospect that Amano would advance American interests in ways that outgoing IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei wouldn’t...

These random acts of tyranny aren't really random acts at all. They are the infantile acting-out of behaviors the childish American public has witnessed being demonstrated by their "leaders." The TSA sexually molesting air travelers isn't just a violation of fundamental human rights -- it's also a demonstration to the mindless masses that this is now "normal" behavior in society, you see.

So as the masses observe Big Government reaching down their own pants, they now get the message that it's okay to sexually molest little boys at sports stadiums, or that it's okay to take children away from parents through C.P.S. and then rape them as part of child relocation "processing" procedures.

When the American people see George Bush set up secret military prisons and condone waterboarding torture techniques, they called for Obama to stop the practice. Obama promised he would, and then not long after becoming President, he expanded Gitmo and actually presided over an increase in funding for the military and all its secret torture facilities.

The message to the American people? If Obama supports it, then torture must be okay. After all, he won a Nobel Peace Prize, so "peace" must be something that can be achieved through torture. Thus, we should not be at all surprised when an 89-year-old woman gets water-boarded in a nursing home. After all, those staffers are only doing to her what they've watched the U.S. leaders do to other human beings, too. (And yet, for some reason, the nursing home staff were arrested while all the high-level government operatives who engage in the exact same torture techniques are never even questioned...)

This phenomenon of everyday American people mirroring the behavior of federal "authorities" who act as tyrants needed a name, and as I began to ponder this issue, the name came to me in a flash:

I'm calling this phenomenon Trickle-Down Tyranny...
